I used to think along the same lines, but that was before I saw how creative the average Joe could be on the internet.
Pro artists aren't the only creative people on this earth, just the only ones getting paid for it.
It isn't any different than baseball: thousands of pro's - millions of amateurs.

I think that you can be creative in any industry and that highly successful people are also very creative. Some of the most creative folks I know are hair-cutters or cooks.

You are right, though. Every Joe with a digital camera considers himself a photographer, just as anyone with a desktop pblishing software is an instant graphic designer.

And just like listening to the earnest and off-key early on on American Idol, there are lots of people who are not afraid of failure because they haven't considered it as an option. ;-)
