I love these wonderful works of art and have even seen some on display here in Toronto. I also have a great book about African-American quilting that discusses how and whether some of the aesthetic sense and even particular motifs are descended from West African traditional textile making. Very, very interesting area.

I can only agree! A huge museum hit, I predict more folk art will be featured in blockbuster museum shows as it becomes more acceptable to feature non-fine art in a museum setting.
