2009 Tour Dates for David Sedaris

The Star of This American Life Returns to America

Feb 1, 2009 Alex Sharp

When the humorist from NPR and the New Yorker comes to town, tickets sell out quickly.

David Sedaris's fans know that the quiet author spends most of his time overseas. Between waiting for new book collections, the devoted readers content themselves with his occasional stories in the New Yorker and wait for him to be featured on NPR's This American Life.

Because his writing is autobiographical, fans feel that they know Sedaris. He has shared the details of his family members, his daily life, and his jobs. His book and stories often quote his diary. What makes a David Sedaris appearance so special is that fans get to stay for book signings, and he talks with people and often personalizes the books he signs with a clever dedication. Sedaris also sells the books he himself reads and loves; fans come because they love one author, but leave prepared to love several more authors.
